Komoco Dance

Sofia Nappi, Artistic Director/Choreographer
KOMOCO is an internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company based in Italy, co-founded by Sofia Nappi, who also serves as its Artistic Director. Launched alongside her first collaborators, Adriano Popolo Rubbio and Paolo Piancastelli, KOMOCO has made a significant mark in the global dance scene. The company’s work, choreographed primarily by Sofia, has been recognized with prestigious accolades, including the Partner Introdans Award (Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, 2021) and multiple awards at the 35th International Choreography Competition Hannover, such as the 1st Prize, Critics Award, and Production Award. KOMOCO's performances have toured extensively across Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Serbia to name some, gracing renowned stages and festivals like La Biennale di Venezia, Roma Europa Festival, MASDANZA, and the Belgrade Dance Festival to mention a few. KOMOCO is not only a platform for groundbreaking performances but also a hub for research and training. It hosts the biannual Komoco Intensive in Florence, attracting professional dancers from around the globe. Committed to blending theatricality and contemporary movement, KOMOCO continues to push boundaries, embodying Sofia Nappi and KC Legacy of collaborators’ mission to explore and expand the expressive potential of dance on a global scale​.

Leonardo De Santis
Born in Rome, Leonardo De Santis begun his studies at the school of Balletto di Roma. In 2018 Leonardo moved to Florence where he joined the school of Balletto di Toscana, under the artistic direction of Mrs. Cristina Bozzolini and where he worked with the choreographer Valerio Longo. At the age of 19 Leonardo was accepted to Rambert School in London. Here he had the honour of working with choreographers such as Isham Rustem and Julie Cunningham, thanks to whom Leonardo was involved in ‘Drew Lines’, a production for the Sadler’s Welles in London. After his graduation, Leonardo went back to Rome to join NEXT project under the direction of Mr. Mauro Astolfi. Here, he had the chance to work with choreographers such as: Sofia Nappi, Ricardo Campos Freire, Alex Clair, Mauro Astolfi himself. In 2022 Leonardo became part of the Balet Rijeka ensemble, under the artistic direction of Mrs. Maša Kolar, here he worked with choreographers such as Cayetano Soto, Nadav Zelner, Giuseppe Spota, and Mauro Bigonzetti.



Glenda Gheller
Originally from Asiago, Italy, Glenda started her professional training in Italy, later moving to the UK where she continued her education at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. She graduated in 2018 with a First Class Honours Degree and in the autumn of that year she became a member of VERVE19, a junior dance company directed by Matthew Robinson. Soon after, she completed her MA Degree in Contemporary Dance Performance and then becamse a company dancer of Scottish Dance Theatre, Dundee. During her artistic career, Glenda has performed works by Sharon Eyal, Maxine Doyle, Noa Zuk, Emanuel Gat, Roser Lopez Espinosa, Sofia Nappi, Botis Seva, Joan Clevillè, Ben Wright, Theo Clinkard, Colette Sadler, Mele Broomes, Janine Harrington and Meytal Blanaru. For the past two years, she has also been discovering her own artistic voice as a choreographer.
